Google wins partial victory in EU legal battle over trademarks

Google appeared to have won a par­tial vic­tory in its long-running legal bat­tle with trade­mark own­ers when a senior judge at the Euro­pean Court of Jus­tice said the com­pany didn’t infringe anyone’s trade­mark rights by allow­ing adver­tis­ers to buy search key­words cor­re­spond­ing to those trademarks.

Ellison: We won’t spin off MySQL (InfoWorld)

InfoWorld — Undaunted by Euro­pean Union con­cerns over Oracle’s pro­posed own­er­ship of the open source MySQL data­base, Ora­cle CEO Larry Elli­son insisted Mon­day that he would not spin off MySQL to get EU approval of Oracle’s planned acqui­si­tion of Sun Microsys­tems and that Oracle’s data­base does not com­pete with MySQL.
